About

A service company, built the old way.

Good Company exists because a lot of the businesses we admire most were never really product companies. They were service companies that happened to be excellent at something technical, and grew one well-served customer and one trusted partner at a time.

Companies like Hewlett-Packard didn’t start as a consumer electronics giant. For decades, the core of the business was measurement instruments and engineering services sold to other companies who needed a hard technical problem solved reliably, supported by people who stood behind the work and by a network of partners who sold and serviced alongside them. The instruments changed generation to generation. The reputation for reliability and service didn’t.

That’s the model we’re building toward. AI phone agents are our first instrument — a real, specific, provable improvement to a problem almost every service business has: the phone rings, and sometimes nobody’s there to answer it. We install it, we integrate it into the systems you already run, and we keep operating it after it ships, the same way a service company keeps showing up after the invoice is paid.

Why the phone, and why first

Every service business lives or dies by whether the phone gets answered. It’s the highest-leverage, most measurable problem we could start with, and it’s one where the downside of trying us is genuinely zero — we only take the calls that were already going to voicemail.

It’s also not the whole business. The integration work behind the phone agent — the adapters that let an AI system speak to your calendar, your customer records, and your scheduling software without you having to change any of them — is the actual capability we’re selling. Once that exists for your business, it’s useful for a lot more than answering the phone. That’s custom AI, and it’s the second thing we do.

What we’re actually for

Our work is meant to make the people who already do the job better at it, never to make them unnecessary. The phone agent takes the call nobody was there to answer. The integration removes the copying and pasting nobody wanted to do. The training makes your staff the people operating the system rather than the people it happened to.

We say that partly because the opposite pitch is everywhere right now, and partly because it’s the more honest description of what our work does. A business that misses a third of its calls doesn’t have too many people. It has more demand than the people it has can physically answer. Automating the overflow doesn’t displace anybody, because nobody was there.

A mission is only worth stating if it rules something out, so here is what this one rules out for us. We won’t help a client plan headcount around a system we sold them. We won’t install something the staff who depend on it can’t inspect or switch off. And we treat teaching those people as part of the job rather than an upsell — which is why training is the third thing we do, and why it comes with every install we operate.

The phone agent only takes what voicemail was taking

It answers on busy, no answer, and after hours. It never takes a call away from the person who was there to pick it up, because those calls never reach it.

Integrations sit behind adapters you can remove

Nothing we build replaces a system your people already know how to use. It connects to what they run, and it comes back out without leaving a hole.

Training puts your staff in charge of the system

A team that can read the logs, override the agent, and tell us when a script is wrong is a team the AI works for. One that can't is worse off than before we showed up.

Who we work with

Directly, we work with small and mid-size service businesses — home services trades, dental practices, auto repair shops — who answer their own phones and can’t afford to lose the calls that come in after hours or when the lines are already busy. Through agency partners, we work with the marketing agencies who buy the ad clicks that those calls come from, and who take the blame when the click doesn’t convert because nobody picked up.

Where we’re based

Los Angeles, starting in the San Fernando Valley. We think a company earns the right to work anywhere by first being genuinely useful somewhere specific, so that’s where we started.

How we operate

A short list of things we won’t compromise on.

01

Enhance, don't replace

Every system we install has to make the people already doing the job better at it. The phone agent only takes the calls that were going to voicemail, the integrations sit behind adapters you can pull out, and we train your staff to run both. We won't help anyone work out who the software makes redundant.

02

Honest numbers, or your numbers

Every statistic on this site is cited with its source and sample size. When it comes to what a missed call is costing your business specifically, we don't compute a number for you — we hand you a calculator and let you fill in your own.

03

Downside protection before capability

We'll tell you what happens when something breaks before we tell you what it does when it works. If our phone agent goes down, your calls land exactly where they land today. That's the first thing we explain, not the last.

04

Compliance in writing

AI disclosure, logged. No training on your data. Inbound only. Not buried in a terms page — stated plainly, because a company that's confident in how it operates puts it in the open.

05

No lock-in

Every integration we build sits behind an adapter, not a rewrite of your systems. You can turn any of it off and lose nothing you had before we showed up.

06

Specific, not hyped

We're not going to tell you AI will replace your staff or 10x your revenue. We'll tell you what a phone agent actually does on a call, and let the numbers we can prove do the rest of the talking.

Somebody’s always there

Come to us with a problem. Leave with somebody who stays on it.
